Personal Description:

Hi! I’m an OCT-certified teacher with nearly 10 years of experience helping elementary students succeed. I specialize in building math confidence at all levels, using humour and relatable examples to make tricky concepts easier to understand, especially when it comes to breaking down tricky word problems. I also support students in developing strong study skills and improving their reading, writing, comprehension, and retention in Language. I'm well-versed in all areas of the Ontario curriculum and always meet students where they're at. I'm friendly, personable, and bring a fun, encouraging energy to every session. Looking forward to working together!

Tutoring Experience:

From 2016 to 2021, I worked one-on-one with students from Kindergarten to Grade 8, helping them strengthen their skills in reading, writing, and math, while also building better homework and study habits. Since becoming a classroom teacher in 2017, I’ve taught every grade from 1 to 8. This wide range of experience has helped me develop, and constantly refine, strategies that meet students' individual needs. I’m also highly proficient in adapting my approach, content, and teaching style to support students with IEPs and different learning needs, ensuring every student feels capable and supported.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring approach is flexible, student-centered, and confidence-building. I tailor my lessons to suit the individual student I’m working with; one-on-one sessions give me the chance to really get to know each learner, assess their needs and strengths, and support them accordingly. I love relating what we’re learning to my students’ interests to help remove subject-related confusion or anxiety and keep them engaged. Whether we’re building core skills, breaking down word problems, or strengthening study habits, I adapt my approach to make learning feel approachable and even fun. I’m also experienced in modifying content and strategies for students with IEPs or different learning profiles. Together, we build practical strategies students can carry with them into the classroom and beyond, developing a lasting sense of confidence in their own abilities.
