Personal Description:

I am a math tutor committed to adapting lessons to visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learning styles, or combinations thereof, rather than providing lecture-based sessions. I find students are more motivated and learn more effectively in environments that cater to their style of learning. Subjects I tutor include pre-algebra as well as Algebra 1 and 2.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently an undergraduate working on my chemistry degree. My teaching ability was praised in high school when my peers said my explanations helped them understand problems. As a student, I have appreciated the value of one-on-one instruction by teaching assistants with their own office hours.

Tutoring Approach:

To start, I believe in getting to know the student. Students should be guided in finding answers, but I walk them through sample problems. Sometimes I start with the underlying concept or a specific idea. I also think students need to know how to study on their own.
