Personal Description:

I am TESL Ontario certified from the Canadian College of Educators and have an Honours BA Degree in Psychology from the University of Waterloo. I have extensive work experience, particularly in multi-cultural environments, including Immigration and the Refugee Board. I have varied skills and the ability to work with many different types of people. I am flexible and have an adaptable approach to work.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught ESL to all age groups in both Canada and China. I am experienced in the classroom environment as well as one-on-one tutoring. While in Beijing I taught English through creating a drama program for the students. They successfully performed their plays to an audience in a large auditorium at the end of the semester. I have also recruited teachers for teaching positions in China.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide a solid grounding in the subject while paying close attention to the needs of the individual. Adapting instruction to the student’s learning style is important to ensure success as well as being sensitive and in tune with your students. Patience and encouragement are necessary attributes when tutoring.
