Personal Description:

My name is Damian and Im a teacher candidate at the University of Ottawa. I will be graduating from University of Ottawas Bachelor of education program next year and cant wait to start my journey as a teacher. Becoming a teacher was always one of my dreams and I strive to be a positive role model and mentor for future generations. Some of my interests and hobbies include playing sports such as basketball and hockey , as well as travelling to different places around the world. With my dedication and passion I plan to make a positive impact on my students and continue learning and growing as a person.

Tutoring Experience:

 Provide education and counselling to students at campus events to increase awareness and decrease stigma
regarding mental health issues at (CIE) Centre For International Experience
 Organise and design displays for campus events and distributed educational materials to students
 Interact with people from diverse cultures and nationalities working as a team to provide feedback and recommendations regarding campus services as well as identifying future directions and potential areas for growth of students
 Give guidance to students on personal and professional development
 Encourage students to participate in competitions and helping them develop required skills, as well as monitoring and analyzing the game of students pointing out their strengths and weaknesses
 Supervise and train students to play basketball as well as other sports such as volleyball, tennis and baseball
 Adapt teaching style to unique needs of students and prepared students for various exams and tests through effective presentation skills and oral and written communication skills
 Apply different techniques, teaching styles and methods to various students on a one on one basis
 Supervise and monitor students' use of tools and equipment
 Observe and evaluate students' work to determine progress, provide feedback, and make suggestions for improvement
 Determine training needs of students or workers
 Participating in needs-assessments; conducting needs-analyses; and preparing job specific task listings
 Conducting classroom and practical instruction; evaluating the performance of employees; and certifying that employees have successfully completed the required training programs.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is that I tailor my tuition to the needs of the student. I will tutor in my own home or that of the student and I will vary my style depending on the ability and needs of the student. I aim to run my tuition in support of the progression of my students through their subject syllabus, but I am also willing to progress more slowly and focus on particularly weak areas if the student so desires. I will also offer pre-exam revision sessions for all exams including modular resits and conduct end of topic tests and mock exams should the student desire.
As I aim to tailor my tuition to the individual I expect students to maintain regular contact in regards to their subject progressions and their individual needs. I expect students to arrive at tuition sessions with a clear idea of what it is they hope to get from the sessions.
I will provide each student with a progress log and detailed feedback on how they are performing and areas where they need to improve, I may also set work for my students to complete outside of sessions and for this set work I will offer a marking service.
I am happy to meet with the parents or guardians of my students prior to the commencement of tuition in order to ascertain what they wish their child to gain from tuition. I am also happy to meet with parents and guardians regularly during the tuition period to discuss their child's progress and if required I am happy to provide parents with written reports on their child's progress.
