Personal Description:

I am a Neuroscience graduate from the University of Manchester, England, currently working at Four Seasons Whistler throughout this Winter season. Needless to say that the skiing scene is what attracted me to Whistler. I am half Spanish (completely fluent), approachable, organised and attentive. I would love to start a second job that involves meeting new people and helping expand their understanding of subjects including Maths, Spanish, English or Biology.

Tutoring Experience:

Throughout my Neuroscience degree, I volunteered as a peer mentor, which involved tutoring Life Science students in the years below me. The mentoring meetings would be held once a week throughout the year and included groups of roughly six people that would approach me with questions and queries in particular modules.
I also volunteered my assistance in my high school's reading club for children aged five to eight years old. This consisted of one-on-one sessions to improve the student's reading and comprehension skills.
Furthermore, I have a brother that is seven years younger than myself whom I have tutored for the last five/six years in Maths, Sciences, Geography, French and English.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the most valuable attribute a student can gain from tutoring is confidence in themselves. Every individual learns at a different pace and through different methods, and it is incredibly important for teachers/tutors recognise this. As a tutor, I would assure that the student is confident with the fundamentals of the subject, whether it be Maths, a Language or a Science, before moving on to more complicated material. Repetitively and consistently practicing writing or completing problems coupled to allowing the student to mark their own mistakes (depending on the age) will allow them to learn where they went wrong and increase their understanding on the subject.
