Personal Description:
I am committed to student success, whether they are studying differential equations or linear algebra. I work 1-on-1 with students to build an understanding of the concepts and how they can be applied. I encourage students to build independent learning skills as well using technology and exercises. Students can receive assistance with solving complex word problems or tackling difficult homework problems.
Tutoring Experience:
I began teaching math in 2008. I've worked for a variety of institutions since then. I hold a master's degree in Applied Mathematics. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics. In addition, I have over four years of experience as a private math tutor.
Tutoring Approach:
I employ a couple of different approaches as a mentor. One route I opt for is reconstruction, through which I use a series of questions to help my student understand and retain the material. In math tutoring in particular, I enjoy finding ways to relate the concepts and skills to things the student knows about or has interest in.
