Personal Description:

I have a very diverse background in terms of work and education experience. I'm a professional musician and teacher, but have also done work in the mortgage industry. Currently, I'm pursuing a computer programming diploma.

Tutoring Experience:

- Ten years of experience in private music tutoring
- Five years of experience as an English tutor at all levels, including ESL

Tutoring Approach:

I like to provide a framework for the student to work from while still allowing some flexibility. I prefer teaching for understanding rather than rote memorization - however, where memorization is helpful, I can provide several techniques. I also find that teaching overall study skills (using methods like SQ3R), and discovering the student's ideal learning mode can be one of the best ways to quickly improve a student's academic performance.

There is rarely one teaching method that will work for all students. I consider it my job as a tutor to find the best teaching methods for each student, and to form a productive relationship that will help motivate them for success.
