Information About Alina

Toronto tutor

Personal Description:

Hi there, thank you for visiting my profile! I hope that you will like what you find below and that we will have a chance to work together very soon!

My name is Alina. I have a masters degree in politics from the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto and I love everything about research and writing. Before my academic career, I worked a journalist at the Toronto Star for two years, and I earned a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University. I want to use my skills to help you excel.

In my professional life, I've worked at Human Rights Watch as a researcher, the University of Toronto as a research assistant, and for several organizations in Norway. Currently, I'm the deputy editor for the Arctic Institute, a non-profit organization that connects scholars from all over the world and publishes their academic work. I'm hoping to start a PhD in Russian History in fall 2020 at Columbia University.

Tutoring Experience:

Do you find writing essays and proposals intimidating? I'd love to help you through all the steps of the writing process - from research, to creating an outline, to writing a fantastic paper! Aside from my extensive writing experience, I've also studied history, politics, and English for over six years and can help you prepare for any class assignments. My main focus in recent years has been European and Russian history, but I have also studied other regions of the world and have an excellent grasp on core concepts in English, Politics, Social Science, and Geography.

Tutoring Approach:

When I tutor, I would like students to feel comfortable with my teaching style and the material, and I want their concerns to be heard and addressed. As a researcher, I have a lifelong love of learning, and I hope to inspire others to feel the same way. My approach to learning is that it shouldn't be a chore, but a fun experience that you can come away from having discovered something new, interesting, and exciting!
