Personal Description:

Ross is a Cornish classical guitarist who performs as a soloist at international music festivals and concert series’ across the UK. His programmes feature music ranging widely in styles and influences, from the Early Baroque to 21st-Century works resulting in balanced and engaging performances.

Ross is also a committed chamber musician, performing regularly in the Orbis Duo alongside flautist Emilia Parr. They have performed across the UK, from the Outer Hebrides to Bristol Cathedral. Ross is part of Quartet Malamatina, a guitar quartet who have performed at the COP26 UN Climate Conference and the Fridays@1 series in Glasgow. The quartet present contemporary music from a diverse range of composers and are actively commissioning and premiering new works.

Ross also performs with soprano Ines Mayhew-Begg and tenor James McIntyre as Live Music Now Artists. Ross arranges a lot of repertoire for the voice and guitar, giving them unique and varied programmes as well performing standard voice and guitar repertoire. Highlights include recitals at the National Gallery of Scotland and St. Giles Cathedral. Ross and Ines are also IGF Young Artists, which involves premiering new works and performing at some the UK’s most prestigious venues.

Ross studied both at undergraduate and postgradua**Contact Detail Removed**vel The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Professor Allan Neave, Matthew McAllister and Sasha Savaloni and previously at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. He has had masterclasses with John Mills, David Watkin, Pavel Steidl, Alvaro Pierri, David Russell, Paul Galbraith and many others. Ross has worked alongside Scottish composer Eddie McGuire and toured with Glyndebourne Opera in their 2021 production of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale.

His studies at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland were supported by The Countess of Munster Musical Trust, The Radford Trust and as a Universal Music Sound Foundation Bursary Recipient.

Tutoring Experience:

I teach all ages and abilities and have had student successes in ABRSM practical exams.

I hold an DipABRSM teaching diploma, LRSM performance Diploma, BMus Hons degree in Performance, Master of Arts degree and hold an Enhanced DBS Check Certificate (England), and PVG certificate (Scotland).

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is relaxed, with emphasis on learning the fundamentals of technique and musicality correctly from the first lesson.

Students can study with me online via zoom or skype as well as in person in Scotland.
