Personal Description:

I’m currently studying for an MA at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance while continuing to work as a professional singer and singing and piano teacher. I graduated with a 2.1 in Music at Kings College London in 2014, majoring in Performance. I have achieved ABRSM grade 8 in Singing, Clarinet, Bassoon and Piano and ABRSM diploma in Singing. As a soloist I regularly sing operatic roles and solos within oratorio works, as well as performing in recitals and concerts. I have worked in many London-based choirs as a choral soprano.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experience started with a strong private practice in London and later in Aylesbury. I have worked as a singing and piano teacher for the Buckinghamshire Music Trust and in schools in primary and secondary schools in the Buckinghamshire area, such as The Misbourne School in Great Missenden. I have also taught larger classes singing for Stagecoach and have worked as a deputy teacher for various Saturday music schools, which included large classes of Music Theory and the Kodaly method.
I’m an experienced teacher of all different levels and teach classical, Musical Theatre and pop genres. I have taught children mostly between 6 and 16 years old and have taught a wide range of ages in adult pupils.
I also worked as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language to both children and adults. During my school years at the Purcell School I was a musical Outreach leader as part of the pupil-led Outreach program IMPULSE (a recipient of the Diana Award 2010), delivering musical workshops in schools for children with learning difficulties and care homes for the elderly. In November 2009 I was chosen to lead musical Outreach projects in Trinidad and Tobago as part of The Commonwealth Resounds! music festival.

Tutoring Approach:

As well as introducing a sound technique I will always aim to make my lessons enjoyable and something to look forward to. A key aim for me is to provide a relaxed environment for my lessons and to promote an atmosphere of trying one’s best despite the result. I am happy both to prepare pupils to take musical examinations and to teach them without exams according to preference. I am patient and will adapt my teaching to the individual by helping them to learn in the best way possible for them, ensuring motivation to practice and making music an enjoyable experience.
