I am currently studying violin at a high level at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with teacher Nathaniel Vallois.
My interests extend to the arts as a whole as I believe these to be intrinsically linked to music. Therefore I believe it is important to emphasise to students the importance of independent research in music as well as other arts as a means to broaden their horizons, help them to better understand what they are doing, and help them to achieve a more versatile and rounded education.
My teaching experience extends mainly to helping out in projects and youth orchestras related to my local area, guiding and helping to support the young and less experienced among the students in order to boost their confidence in this field. This can help improve their skills in a number of disciplines- orchestra playing demands a high level of concentration on multiple things simultaneously.
I am a strongly encouraging individual who believes in the importance of boosting a student’s confidence in order that they can achieve their best in a none stressful environment. I think it is important that the student learns to enjoy what they are doing rather than perceiving learning an instrument as work, in this fashion I try to encourage the independent learning of the student. I also believe in the importance of establishing a firm basic technique which can be built on throughout.
