Each lesson will be relaxed and personally tailored to the individual and their goals/abilities - whether this is working your way through the graded system and reaching grade 8 or even just for the enjoyment of playing and making music (there will be no pressure in the lessons as each musical journey is different). Emma strives to deliver a vast range of instrumental knowledge across all woodwinds, music theory, and musical interpretation to help enhance the students' musical understanding and performance skills. She is a keen learner herself and will go above and beyond to research areas of interest to you.
Lesson topics may include:
- Understanding musical notation (notes, articulations, dynamics, etc.)
- Tone production (embouchure, breathing, posture, support)
- Scales, sight-reading, music theory, and playing by ear
- Working on exam material
- Learning and working on pieces/songs/solos
- Extended techniques (double tonguing, growling, altissimo, etc.)
