I have completed Bachelor studies in classical piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Previous to this I also studied at the Purcell School for Young Musicians. I have enjoyed success in various competitions, such as being finalist in both the Canolfann Gerdd William Mathias Piano Competion and the Moray Piano Competiton aged 17. More recently, aged 20, first prize in the Brighton and Hove Springboard Concerto Competition, which lead to my appearance with the Brighton Youth Orchestra, performing Liszt's Piano Concerto no.2 in A-major, S.125 in November 2016. This was followed by a tour of Poland in July 2017 with the same orchestra, performing Liszt and Chopin concertos.
I have performed in venues in and around London, including but not limited to Wigmore Hall, St James' Church Paddington, St George the Martyr in Borough, St George's Beckenham, St John's Brighton, St Butolph Without Aldgate, and St Luke's Maidenhead, the last mentioned being one where I am a regular recitalist at their biannnual music festival.
I have recently graduated from the Guildhall School, where I have studied on intensive teaching skills modules which have encompassed lectures and seminars on teaching as well as having to teach actual students. Before this I had already given numerous lessons to mostly adult beginners. While of course not having many years of teaching experience at my age, my knowledge of piano repertoire, technique and performance practice is vast, which beginner, intermediate and advanced level students alike will benefit from.
Every student is different, and I feel that it is the role of the teacher to embrace and work with this. While some students may be looking at auditioning for Music Schools, Scholarships, Junior Conservatoires and Conservatoires, others may be learning to play because they want to be able to play at home for their children or family, or just for themselves. While some students are preparing for competitions and/or graded examinations, others may be learning to play a Joplin Rag to show off to their friends! What all these have in common is that they share a love for music in one way or another, and it's therefore always my pleasure to be a part of whatever path a student is following.
