Personal Description:

Millie is a 21 year old flautist based in the north of England, who has recently graduated with a first class honors degree at Leeds College of Music under Dr. Martyn Shaw and Karin de Fleyt.

Millie has toured across the UK and Europe, including: Germany, Sweden, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. Millie has also being apart of The National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain; performing both the ‘wind classics’ and working closely with contemporary composers to perform new works and commissions, with world-class soloists, such as Simone Rebello and David Thornton.

Millie is an incredibly versatile flautist; during her time at Leeds College of Music she has performed in a wide range of ensembles, including principal flute in the new and exciting Northern Contemporary Collective, LCoM’s Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, New Music Collective, and as a soloist in the SU Chorus. As well has regularly performing with guitarists, flautists and pianists; including her exciting contemporary flute duo: The Mantra Duo. Her repertoire is extensive; recently adding pop onto her list, performing alongside Marc Almond for BBC Love in Leeds.

Millie’s most recent venture is conducting a classical contemporary ensemble in collaboration with the incredible composer Quinta, and the award winning, all woman’s Joss Arnott Dance company, enhanced by Yaron Abulafia’s exquisite lighting design, at The Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre.

Tutoring Experience:

Millie also has a passion for musical education, since the age of 14 she has worked to inspire the younger generation to get involved with music. Recently spending her summer working in Nottingham in an outstanding nursery and out of school club, with children aged 0-11, encouraging the first stages of music involvement and enriching their educational needs through music.

Tutoring Approach:

I personally feel that music should be fun and positive at all times. Lessons are tailored to each individual, depending on their ability. Whether you want to learn for just the enjoyment or to prepare for a grade. I am enthusiastic and patient, with passion for teaching and love to see pupils progress week by week.
