Personal Description:

I am a Malaysian Chinese, classical pianist, graduated with a first-class honours from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) under tutelage of Graham Caskie. Recently, I was offered to pursue my master's degree in piano performance with a scholarship at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying with Colin Stone.

During my studies at the RWCMD, I have enjoyed performing both solo and in chamber groups in various venues such as Dora Stoutzker Hall in Cardiff, Newport Cathedral, Weston Gallery etc. In November 2020, I was the prize winner of the Eric Hodges Memorial Prize in Cardiff, and have been selected to perform in the BPSE Intercollegiate Beethoven Competition.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught students of all ages and levels in both Malaysia and in the UK, and am able to offer lessons in both English and Mandarin (Chinese) if needed. My students have all succeeded in ABRSM exams in several different grades under my guidance.

Tutoring Approach:

Whilst providing students with plenty of ideas and knowledge, I always try to encourage my students to be independent and think for themselves, enhancing their ability to communicate through music. Aside from building and improving fundamental techniques, my personal forte and interest in music is the musical ideas and sound production.

Having participated in masterclasses with high profile pianists such as Peter Donohoe, Cédric Tiberghien, John Lill, and Llyr Williams, I was able to see music in different perspectives, which has influenced my approach to both performing and teaching.
