Information About Tor - Dover teacher

Personal Description:

Tor is the drummer of Kent alt-rock band Salvation Jayne who are releasing their highly anticipated debut album ‘A Mouthful Of Magnificent Spite’ in February 2022 followed by an exciting U.K. tour.

Tor progressed from drumming in the small pubs & bars of Dover at jam nights filling in for various local bands, to providing beats behind the kit for freestyle rap nights in Canterbury, and then moving onto drumming with U.K. R&B act Courtney Bennett.

More recently Tor brings creative flare and unpredictable drum patterns to Salvation Jayne who have played numerous shows and supports slots across the U.K. with bands such as Milk Teeth, Saint Agnes & Rews and recorded their debut album at the famous Rockfield Studios in Wales.

Tor is endorsed by Natal Drums and was fortunate enough to play at the Freddie Gee Drum summer camp, sponsored by Natal Drums. Also on the bill was Steve White (Paul Weller), Eddy Thrower (LTA, Busted), Pat Garvey, Ben Thomas (Rag 'n' Bone Man) and more.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching drums one-to-one from home in Dover, Kent for the past 8 years. I work with with casual students, as well as students needing their drum theory grades (Trinity/Rock School) from the ages 7 and above, to adults.
Since Easter '22, i've been teaching at Folkestone Academy to Years 7-11.

Lessons are £15 for 30 mins, or £30 for an hour.

Tutoring Approach:

I've always approached my lessons as 'Drum For Fun', because you've first got to enjoy it. Even if you've never held a pair of drum sticks before i will get you playing a beat in your first lesson, easy!
I like to find out what music you like, which helps me approach the lesson in a certain way. It's also good to find ways you can practice along to the songs you like, whether that be practicing on a drum kit, a practice pad, on your bed or your legs!
I have the facilities here to record covers of your song and film them too, which is a fun little project for us both once you've reached the stage of learning full songs!
