Personal Description:

I love both teaching and performing. In New York City, I spent over 10 years freelancing in orchestras, operas, and musicals including performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Since moving to Shropshire, I have appeared with the Shrewsbury Symphony and the Shrewsbury Charity Concerts Orchestra. My teachers have included Mindy Kaufman (Piccolo with the New York Philharmonic) and Keith Underwood. I have a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance, summa cum laude, from New York University in 2007.

Tutoring Experience:

I started teaching private lessons while still at university. I’ve taught students as young as four as well as adults. I’ve also taught group flute classes for the Harmony Program which provides lessons for disadvantaged children in New York. Last spring one of my American online flute students successfully auditioned for the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in New York City. I have also taught numerous piano students through early intermediate repertoire.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor lessons to each individual student's goals and learning style. I offer both Suzuki and traditional style flute lessons. I am certified to teach Suzuki Flute Lessons. I am happy to help with exam preparation for those who are interested. I believe that everyone can develop confidence, perseverance and self expression through lessons.

My piano students get a solid introduction to piano technique and music theory and when they are well into intermediate repertoire I can refer them to colleagues who specialize in piano.
