Personal Description:
I am a level 2 qualified Suzuki Violin teacher and a member of the BSMA. I have a PGCE (Teaching) qualification and an MSc in Multimedia and E-Learning. I am currently studying on the MEd programme in Music Education at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. My passion is playing and teaching violin. I have up to date DBS and Safeguarding Certification. I started to learn violin at the age of 6 via the Suzuki method with Colin Green at my primary school in Salford.
Tutoring Experience:
I am an experienced educator and have taught children from the age of 3 to teenagers and adults. I teach violin using Suzuki and traditional methods and I have an understanding of the practical and academic aspects of music making and how to make lessons fun. For the past three years, I have participated in the International Suzuki Summer School at Bryanston in Dorset and have attended National Suzuki Workshops at The Royal College of Music in London and The Badminton School in Bristol. I have also taught A'Level Computer Science and I.T to teenagers in Sixth Form for over twenty years and have experience of classroom and group teaching through this and Suzuki Violin teaching.
Tutoring Approach:
I offer the first 1/2 hour consultation lesson free of charge. This is so we can discuss your goals and requirements while doing a mini 'taster lesson'. Lessons are then structured to work towards agreed aims and will include fundamental concepts such as posture, technical aspects and music theory. As a trained Suzuki violin teacher, I have gained access to a wide range of games and activities to help make lessons fun and to maintain motivation and increase concentration. Above all else, I am passionate about nurturing a love for music.
