Personal Description:

I am a Cardiff based saxophonist and tutor. As a working musician I get to play all sorts of music, my favourites are jazz, hip hop, afro beat and funk. I have a BA in Music and an MA in Jazz Performance from the Royal Welsh. I believe that we can all get something out of learning and practicing music and I thoroughly enjoy teaching students.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a number of adults and children studying with me at the moment, mostly around the beginner to intermediate range. I have been teaching music for about 4 years now and have recently been part of some group music projects to help bring communities together through music.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel that enjoyment is key. Learning an instrument takes time and if we feel good about it it's easier to give it that time. Lessons are based on the students intentions, we can follow a grade syllabus, look at getting into improvisation, improve technique and learn the songs that made you love the instrument. I think that small achievable goals are vital to keep a sense of achievement and remind you how far you've come, even when it might feel like there's still a way to go.
