Personal Description:
Amongst many skills I have strong communication skills. Having worked as part of a team for Barnardos, a charity to help children from difficult backgrounds, the best results came from open communication to work towards providing them with life skills through interactive ways, such as roleplays and puppet shows. This also involved a great deal of safeguarding; hence my vision goes beyond only the academic needs of students.
I've also worked for Ty Coryton, a home for autistic children. Here, strong interpersonal skills were also required in order to provide safe and high quality education and care to the students. We provided them with important life skills and an academic education through explaining things in an understandable and relatable way. For example, one child really liked football, so we created maths activities with football such as calculating how much time was left in a particular match. Teaching here opened my eyes to interactive and creative teaching methods, as did teaching freestyle classes in a local primary school in Spain, where singing songs and making crafts really worked well. I also employed techniques I had learnt during my teacher training sessions at EF Bristol and BRVNS Academy, such as ‘flipping the classroom’, which the students really liked as it allowed them to go at their own pace.
Tutoring Experience:
I’m well experienced, with over two years of piano teaching and over three years of English as a second Language (ESL) teaching. Furthermore, I'm well qualified, having achieved a distinction in my TEFL certification verified by the British Council.
Tutoring Approach:
I find the key to good teaching to be my adaptability, which gives me a natural affinity with people. From this I have developed excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively. I'm eager to bring dynamism and excellence from an online experience as I teach now with Learnship, into the a real life environment, and look forward to meeting you.
