Personal Description:
I am single in my fifties with one grown up daughter. I enjoy walking and gardening. I have recently learnt to scuba dive.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught one to one piano, violin and music theory for over thirty years. Mainly in my own home, with a small portion of lessons given in client houses. In the past I worked in two private prep schools. One for 14 years , the other for 9 years. I enter pupils wishing to take exams for ABRSM examinations, accompanying violin entrants myself.
I am familiar with National 5 and Higher instrumental requirements. Helping pupils to choose and prepare their programs.
Tutoring Approach:
I like my lessons to be relaxed and fun. All clients call me by my christian name. I use the proper, correct terms right from the beginning. Plus sometimes jovial words to help pupils remember.
Practising at home is of paramount importance. If you practise, you will get better.
I encourage pupils to explore the whole instrument. Having 'fun' with a piece after it is mastered is a large source of enjoyment.
