In London, Robbie is principal clarinet of the Cavatina, Giovanne and Kohncertino Orchestras and has played as guest principal in the University of London Symphony Orchestra. Robbie was principal clarinet of the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra and recipient of the 2017 Stephen Parker Memorial Award and the 2018 principal clarinet of the Ulster Youth Orchestra of Northern Ireland. Robbie has appeared as a soloist at venues such as the Ulster Hall, where he made his solo debut with the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra performing Weber’s Clarinet Concertino, and Stormont Parliament Buildings. He gained a position in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain 2017/18, working with conductors Sir Mark Elder and Kwame Ryan. His year with the National Youth Orchestra culminated in the Royal Albert Hall at the BBC Proms as principal Eb Clarinet under conductor and composer Sir George Benjamin. Robbie is currently taking part in the Ulster Orchestra Professional Experience Scheme in which he will receive mentoring and take part in rehearsals and performances with the orchestra.

Tutoring Experience:

Robbie has worked with multiple schemes specialising in music education for young children and teenagers with groups such as the RCM Sparks programme, the LCE department of the Ulster Orchestra and personally with his own students. He has a full DBS check and is cleared to work in educational or private settings.

Tutoring Approach:

Music is something for everyone, whether you are pursuing it to a high level, or for the sheer enjoyment of learning an instrument. We will discuss what your goals are and tailor the lessons to what you want (rigorous instruction or relaxed music-making etc). Lessons should be something to look forward to and a chance to be expressive in a way you can't be in your normal day to day life. My goal is to help my students become more rounded people and to help those who aspire to a career in music.
