Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Richard . I'm 23 years old and have just completed my master's degree in double bass performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. I previously completed an undergraduate degree in music at St Anne's College, University of Oxford, and have studied double bass under Thomas Martin (London Symphony Orchestra), Tony Alcock (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra), and Charles Wall (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra).
Tutoring Experience:
As a recent graduate, I am only now starting to take my own students in instrumental performance and music theory. However, I have experience coaching group sessions for university ensembles and have also helped run a number of workshops for young composers and performers.
Tutoring Approach:
I encourage students to pursue their own interests in music, not just sticking to a grade syllabus but exploring a wide range of repertoire. Lessons are relaxed — music is best when enjoyed!
I produce my own exercises for students and compose pieces to aide with teaching, so rest assured that you will get tailor-made lessons.
