Personal Description:

Teaching 20+ years. Relaxed, encouraging and tailored for you lessons. Beginner to Diploma. ABRSM, Trinity, MTB, LCM, RSL. 1000+ successful exams. Online and face to face.

Hello, my name is Peter and I have been teaching piano, music theory and GCSE music, alongside accompanying instrumental and vocal exams for over twenty years. During this time I have been teaching both individual and group lessons in person and online, privately and within schools. I have a Masters and Bachelors degree in music and am a member of the EPTA.

Tutoring Experience:

Over the years my students have ranged from 3 years of age to 70+ and from beginner to diploma level. Those who have chosen to sit music exams have successfully completed over 1000 of them and I have experience preparing students for exams with ABRSM, Trinity, MTB, LCM and RSL. Students who have chosen to enter music festivals, alongside gaining valuable performance experience, have been awarded numerous trophies, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placings and Most Promising Pianist awards.

Tutoring Approach:

In a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere we will find out what you would like to learn. What is your favourite type of music: classical, jazz, pop, traditional, worship, country? Finding music you like and incorporating it into your lessons will be one of our main goals. Alongside this we can learn how to read and interpret music, how to memorise, improvise, understand music theory and improve your technical ability and overall musical knowledge. We will progress in all of this at a pace that you are comfortable with and enjoy.

If you would like to sit piano exams, these can be tailored to suit you personally. Would you like to sit an exam face to face with an examiner, or would you like to record your exam in the comfort of your home or in your lesson and send it away to be marked? Would you like to learn and present everything at once, or hone and polish one element at a time, building your grade up until ready to send? Do you have a particular exam board in mind from which to select your pieces or would you like the option of choosing any piece you like at your particular level? With exams being offered from ABRSM, Trinity, MTB, LCM and RSL, employing classical, jazz, pop and traditional music, Iā€™m sure we can find something to suit you and your learning style.

If you have any queries or would like to find out more, please get in touch. Thank you. Peter
