Personal Description:

Experienced teacher of piano, theory and composition with enhanced CRB approval. Piano students - all ages - from beginners to Associate diploma level are welcome as are those who require music theory instruction for grades 1 to 8 or GCSE and A levels. References and a trial lesson available on request.

I teach either from home or will travel.

Tutoring Experience:

Teaching experience with ages from five upwards and levels up to and including Associate diploma since 1982 - both private and peripatetic.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very friendly personality that ensures nervous adults or anxious children quickly engage and develop their potential. Abstract concepts are always explained in concrete terms and I carefully structure lessons so students move steadily from what they can do to the next level of learning. Sound progress results in enjoyment and a passion for further development.

Students learn, kinaesthetically, to play with quality of movement, ensuring that a good and varied tone is achieved with the minimum of physical effort.

Conscientiously and thoroughly, students are prepared for graded exams with full confidence, ensuring 100% success. Those who do not wish to take exams are free to develop their ability for their own pleasure in any musical genre and with my enthusiastic guidance.
