Personal Description:

Hi there! I am a Taiwanese pianist, teacher, and musical director, with an extensive teaching experience internationally. I have recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, which is now ranked as the world’s top 3 institutions of performing arts in the world global rankings, and I have been teaching both privately and as a classroom teacher across the UK for over 6 years. Supporting and training young and aspiring musicians, of all genres, with great commitment and dedication towards music education. I strongly believe that as teachers, we are the architect of hope for the next generation and seeing enjoyment in my students is always a great gift and one that I feel extremely passionate about.

As a versatile artist, I have recently been granted a Global Talent & Exceptional Promise status from the Arts Council England, and I am active not only as a solo pianist in my performing career, but also a collaborative director and producer in alternative projects artistically, who understands the importance of music-making in the creation, and expression of, cultural identity. I have a natural empathy and openness for other people, which enhances and feeds my own music-making and allows me to collaborate easily and share generously. I am appreciative of all forms of musical, and non-musical, art. As a result, my teachings are always flexible and open minded, which creates a stimulating learning environment for all of my students.

I have also held an extensive performance experience both in the UK and abroad as a classical concert pianist. My festival appearances include the Ulverston Festival, Chipping Campden Festival and Bolzano, Italy, as well as my performance at the Beethoven 250th festival in Birmingham broadcast by La Scala radio and Classic FM. My developing career has also led me to perform the Ravel piano concerto in G with conductor Daniele Rosina and the RBC Symphony Orchestra. Collaboratively performing in chamber groups, discovering new music both traditional and contemporary. I have also won multiple piano prizes in Taiwan and in the UK - at the North London Festival and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, as well as being an accomplished and exciting jazz trumpeter.

In terms of my education, I have participated fully in conservatories across the UK in different cities. I am a recent masters graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, which is now ranked as the world’s top 3 institutions of performing arts in the world global rankings. In terms of my Bachelor, I have graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2020 with First-Class Honours. I was also a pupil at the Junior Guildhall School Music and Drama in London for 2 years at the age of 17. I have participated fully in the musical life towards my career, studied piano with Stephen Coombs, Daniel Browell, Sanae Nakajima and Chenyin Li, as well as participating in masterclasses with Steven Osborne, Tom Ostrovskis, Peter Donohoe, and Co Stone.

Tutoring Experience:

I have held a professional role as a piano teacher at Miart Music Centre, Felsted School, FirstTutors, and privately teaching in Birmingham, London and Glasgow for over 6 years. With the education and supervision of a huge number of students internationally from the age of 4 to 30 towards their individual goals. As well as the commitment to maintaining appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with both the children and parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I hope to not only motivate students in ascertaining their strengths and abilities but also discovering their passion through music in my one-to-one lessons. I am extremely excited to provide a stimulating learning environment with my teaching experiences which received tremendous reviews from students and parents. Encouraging students to achieve their goals at their full potential.

We will be focusing on Classical piano playing in lessons, as well as ABRSM exams or other diploma levels. However, I am also extremely flexible in teaching alternative genres of piano music, such as jazz, pop, music theory, or any other piano music casually.
