Personal Description:
I am passionate about music - I sing in a choir and play in a local orchestra and a concert band.
I have grade 8 in piano, saxophone and flute. I have a performance diploma in piano from Trinity College of Music and Dip ABRSM and CTABRSM in piano.
I am DBS checked.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching privately for 10 years. I have taught children from age 5 to adults aged 92. I have taught several children with special needs and I work in a school with special needs children.
I encourage students to take music exams if that is what they would like to do ( whether it be Trinity College of Music exams or ABRSM exams- depending on the individual student). However, I realize that taking exams is not for everyone and I am equally happy for students to learn to play an instrument for pleasure.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that learning an instrument should be fun so I try to make lessons relaxed and enjoyable.
I am very flexible in my approach to teaching and adapt my teaching style to suit the individual.
