Personal Description:

I am a friendly piano teacher located in Barry. I have a Masters in music from the University of Nottingham and a Grade 8 in piano. I am DBS checked and currently teach a wide range of ages, from young children to adults, with fun and informative lessons. All my students have a 100% pass rate in piano, GCSE and A level exams, achieving exceptional grades.

I love all sorts of music, so whether you'd like to learn classical, jazz, film music or pop, I will tailor each lesson around you, to ensure that you get the most out of your lessons and achieve your goals.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching piano for over five years and have worked with total beginners, students working through piano grades, GCSE and A Level students, as well as those who just would like to learn to play for fun. I am experienced in teaching syllabuses for the ABRSM, Trinity and WJEC exam boards and I am confident that I will be able to help you achieve your best possible result.

I have worked with all ages, from primary school children to teenagers and adults, and I always ensure that my lessons are age-appropriate so that each individual student's needs are met.

Tutoring Approach:

Beyond playing the notes on the page, my teaching will help you to learn how to make a piece of music your own. We will focus on articulation, dynamics, pedalling, stylistic features, musical terminology, tempo, character and touch, so that your playing adopts a well-rounded and professional musical quality. As well as playing, I also incorporate music theory, musicology and musical styles into the lessons.

Whether you are a total beginner who is looking to play for fun or someone who wants to develop their musical qualifications and progress their musical career, my experience, knowledge and enthusiasm will help develop your skillset and build your pianistic portfolio.

I have a wide range of music available for you to learn, including Chopin, Debussy, Einaudi, Bach, John Williams… and even Taylor Swift and High School Musical! However, I am more than happy for you to bring along any piece of music that you're interested in learning and we will work through it together.
