Personal Description:

Hi, I’m Matt , a saxophonist with a passion for bringing music to life, whether on stage, in the studio, or through teaching. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to perform with some incredible musicians, playing everything from jazz and funk to pop and contemporary styles.

Saxophone has taken me on an amazing journey—gigs at top venues, collaborations with talented artists, and the chance to explore the limitless possibilities of sound. I love the freedom and expressiveness of the instrument, and I’m always pushing myself to grow as a musician.

When I’m not performing, I’m sharing my knowledge through teaching. Helping students develop their skills and confidence on the sax is something I take seriously (but with plenty of fun along the way). Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, I believe there’s always something new to discover.

Music is more than just notes—it’s about connection, energy, and telling a story. That’s what I aim for every time I pick up my sax.

Let’s make some music!

Tutoring Experience:

Teaching Experience

Hi, I’m Matt , and alongside performing, teaching saxophone has been a huge part of my musical journey. I’ve been teaching for many years, working with students of all levels—from complete beginners picking up the sax for the first time to experienced players looking to refine their technique or expand their improvisation skills.

My approach is all about making learning enjoyable, engaging, and tailored to each student. Everyone learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to suit individual goals, whether that’s mastering jazz improvisation, developing a solid technique, preparing for exams, or just playing for fun.

I teach both one-on-one and group sessions, in-person and online, and I always aim to create a relaxed but productive learning environment. My students come from all backgrounds and ages, and I love helping them grow in confidence and ability.

For me, music is about expression and creativity, and I encourage my students to develop their own voice on the sax. Whether you’re working on classic jazz standards, contemporary tunes, or original material, I’ll help you build the skills and understanding to play with confidence.

If you’re interested in learning saxophone or taking your playing to the next level, I’d love to help!

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is different, and that’s exactly how I approach teaching. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” method when it comes to learning the saxophone. Instead, I tailor each lesson to the individual, making sure we focus on what inspires you, what challenges you, and what will help you grow as a musician.

I believe learning should be enjoyable and engaging, so I work hard to create a relaxed and encouraging environment. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a more advanced player, my goal is to help you develop confidence, technique, and most importantly, your own unique voice on the sax.

Some students thrive with structured exercises and clear goals, while others prefer a more intuitive, ear-based approach. I adapt my teaching to fit your learning style, whether that means working on jazz improvisation, tackling tricky technical passages, or simply helping you play your favorite songs with ease.

I also focus on developing strong fundamentals—breath control, tone production, articulation—so that whatever style you choose to play, you have the skills to express yourself freely. And if you’re interested in improvisation, I’ll guide you through the language of jazz, helping you build confidence and creativity in your solos.

At the end of the day, my job as a teacher is to inspire, guide, and help you become the best player you can be. If you’re ready to start (or continue) your saxophone journey, let’s make some music!
