Personal Description:

I have been working with music technology for over twenty years. My main areas of interest are software synthesis and sampling, sonic art and sound design I have my own home studio which includes MIDI control surfaces linked to the software I use. I regularly perform live using music technology systems and I have a solid knowledge of live events and studio production techniques and equipment. I have also played with a variety of bands and solo as a guitarist and singer.

Tutoring Experience:

I have over ten years experience of working 1:1 with students of all abilities who want to create their own music either as a hobby or to supplement their formal music technology education. I worked at Bodmin College for two years as the Creative Arts and Media Technician supporting 'A' Level and BTEC students on a range of subjects from MIDI editing and creating sound effects, to live stage rigging and multi-track recording. My most recent Classroon based teaching experience was at City College Plymouth working with students on the NOCN L1 course in Live Events Production and first and second year BTEC Music students. For the last three years I have been supporting students 1:1 studying at **Removed By Admin**University on the BA Music and BA Music Technology courses.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an informal and artistic approach to music technology as I firmly believe that the creation process should be an enjoyable experience. Music production requires patience, commitment and people skills ( a good sense of humour really helps ), all of which I encourage in my sessions. I will always give un-biased advice on what equipment or software you might need and will endevour to help you find the most cost effective way to pursue your interests. I am equally happy to work with PC or Mac based systems/software, freeware and cloud computing solutions. A solid understanding of health and safety is essential to this craft and my sessions reflect this.
