Personal Description:
I am a postgraduate tutor teaching guitar, piano, violin/fiddle, kids rap vocals and junior drum kit based in Chobham. I teach popular styles-blues, rock, folk, jazz, rap, classical, and music theory-popular, jazz and classical. Pupils of all ages are welcome. I have played in many varied ensembles and bands and currently rap and produce music.
Tutoring Experience:
I founded 'Acornbutter Music' in 2009 and since then have taught a wide range of pupils from aged 3 upwards. I have worked with 'special needs' students in a Camphill Rudolf Steiner school and privately. I teach left handed if required. I am qualified in childcare and have some special needs training. I completed a music degree, education pathway, followed by an M.A. in Popular Music, at Kingston University.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a holistic approach, am flexible and can help you with pieces of your choice, working at your own pace. I can help with theory or exams. I ensure that my pupils are well prepared for all aspects of their exams if they choose to take them, and I also endeavour to help my pupils with good posture and technique which is a pre-requisite for success.
I maintain a strong dialogue with parents regarding their children's h/w, aims and achievements.
Lessons are available at a cheaper rate for 3/4 hr and 1/2 hr for younger pupils [£33.00 and £23]. I offer a concessionary rate [unemployed or low waged/student/OAP/home ed] on application. Pricing is based on M.U. rates.
I teach some students online, but the majority come to my home in Chobham, or are taught in a school or studio setting. Online students are also eligible for a concessionary rate on request.

What I appreciated about Marion is that firstly she is very warm, supportive teacher and wants the best for the pupil. In my case we were not sure about whether I should aim for grade 3 or 4 and I liked the way Marion discussed this and was so affirming.
Looking forward to my next lesson.
