Personal Description:
Hello! I’m Mackenzie and I’m a concert pianist based in Edgeley, Stockport. I have been teaching for 10 years, and I am extremely passionate about inspiring budding musicians of any age - I believe everyone has the ability to create wonderful things with music. All of my lovely students are very successful as performers. I’d like to help you achieve your musical goals, however large or small they may be!
Tutoring Experience:
I aim to produce the highest quality musicians, with my students achieving a 82% Distinction Rate in their examinations, yet ensuring lessons are enjoyable. I have helped students gain places in prolific schools for music, such as Chethams School of Music. I am also a member of staff at Terra Nova Prep School, Brabyns Prep School and Stockport Grammar School.
Tutoring Approach:
I take many pedagogical approaches in one - some prefer a more serious approach, some more laid back. I tailor that to the individual and to the moment. Most of my lessons consist of fun activities, combined with more structured learning, all of which aims to produce the highest standard of learning outcomes. This is all done in a supportive environment.

Mackenzie is engaged in every lesson and has a real passion for his instrument and musicality; he expresses this in a really accessible way that isn’t patronising or elitist, and where correction is needed it’s in a constructive manner. I’ve found him to be super flexible and where needed (e.g. COVID-19!) he goes above and beyond to provide online lessons.
