Personal Description:

Lucy graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2020 with a first class honours, having studied the flute with Adam Walker (LSO) and Sue Thomas (LPO). Lucy has performed as principal flute with the RCM Symphony orchestra, the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Chamber Orchestra and the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain. In 2019, she successfully auditioned for the English National Opera Evolve Scheme. As a soloist, Lucy has performed in masterclasses with Petri Alenko, Adam Walker and Sir James Galway and in 2016, won the Chetham’s Flute Competition. Lucy studied at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music from 2007-2016, where she achieved her grade 8 distinction in 2009 and DipABRSM flute performance in 2016.

Tutoring Experience:

As a teacher, Lucy has over 5-years experience, and has taught a range of different ages and standards. In 2018, she achieved her teaching diploma from the ABRSM. Lucy has also taken part in numerous outreach projects, including the Turtle Key Arts ‘Turtle Song’ project, leading workshops, warmups and song-writing sessions with people with dementia and their carers.

Tutoring Approach:

As a flute teacher, I tailor each lesson to suit a students needs, as each individual has a different approach to learning. I am happy to work towards exams or own personal goals, and will provide constructive ways to practice and develop each week. My approach to teaching is both professional and friendly, ensuring that each student enjoys their lessons, regardless of age. Bringing my own passion and experience, I am confident in my ability to motivate students to realise their potential.
