Personal Description:

I am a guitarist, tutor, and performer specialising in contemporary music, based in Southampton. For the past 20 years I have studied the guitar and various areas of musicianship including guitar technique, music theory, composition and arrangement, ear training, contemporary repertoire, music performance, and music technology.

In addition to my role as a tutor I have over a decade of experience as a live performer, touring musician and recording artist. I have toured the UK and Europe extensively in tour buses and vans, playing numerous major festivals and some of the largest venues in the UK, including the O2 Arena. I have also visited BBC’s Maida Vale studios to record a live session for Radio 1, and have worked alongside Musical Director and Producer Simon Ellis.

I teach both electric and acoustic guitar, so please let me know which you are interested in when you get in touch!

I am a friendly, relaxed and patient person and take great joy in sharing my enthusiasm for music and the guitar with others.

I also offer a £10 discount off the first lesson.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experience includes one-on-one private tuition in my student's homes as well as small group tuition in primary and secondary schools and music centres.

I don't specialise in any age group, you're never too old to learn to play guitar!

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to tailor lessons to each student's ability level and their chosen goals. Whether a student wants to take graded exams or just wants to learn how to play their favourite songs, learning the guitar provides a fun and rewarding experience.

From Trevor (5/5): Lawrie turned up as promised and discussed a learing plan for what I needed. Coming back next week to crack on with it.

The lessons were structured but flexible enough to allow for tailored requests. Can't wait for lesson number 2!
