Personal Description:

Hi there, my name is Jack, I am a Composer, Coach and Bristol Music Teacher specialising in Piano, Saxophones, Flute, Composition, Conducting and Music Theory.

I'd love it if you visited my website. There's a lot more information & a video about me up there. You can search for it online.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a degree in Music & 10+ years of teaching experience and work with individuals at all levels of music ability. I truly tailor my approach around my student, so lessons evolve around how you learn. Whether you are after a solid grounding in the fundamentals of Jazz harmony, Classical theory & composition or want to develop incredible listening skills, throughout my teaching I pursue each individual’s natural passions & talent, helping them to lay the foundations of musical awareness in a way that is natural to them.

Tutoring Approach:

What I expect from my students.

Where do you want to go with your music? You can be sure that lessons will always be working toward your musical goals. As a teacher I strive to make those goals happen quickly and effectively. As such though, I require students to turn up with a strong idea of why they are there and what they want to achieve. Whether it’s to learn and enjoy music slowly & privately or to found your own orchestra – I don’t mind

Whilst I never force students to practise, I do focus a lot on how you practise. It may sound funny, but many of us are never taught how to do it well. Whilst we may be taught the instrument and the theory, my work I believe is different as I have a strong focus on how to practise more deeply & effectively and most important of all – how to keep on enjoying music!
