Personal Description:

I put Djembe students and workshop participants in touch with the ROOTS of modern music with an energetic combination of ROOTS techniques & rhythm combined with my narrative and educational prompts & guidance.Since 1999
I have been demonstrating and teaching in Schools, Colleges, Workplaces and Community how this incredible system of Djembe Drumming promotes Health & Well Being. In addition, I am known across the UK for my teaching, playing and dedication to the Djembe.

Since 1999 in the UK and Europe - teaching an easy and fun way to begin enjoying and playing the Djembe Drum.

I also specialise in providing Drumming and Yoga Retreat Holidays in Europe + Interactive Drumming Experiences, 'Break-Out' and Team building Sessions and I have worked with clients such as; Vodafone, Heinz, Catapillar, Unilever, Lloyds TSB and Nat West.

Tutoring Experience:

9 Years study with Master Tomas Camara in The Gambia, West Africa at Alla Leake Kunda (www.rhythmworks.co.uk)
Susu Meditation Technique for Tonality & Tempo + Rhythm Arrangements including Accompaniment Parts, Introductions and Variations.

20 years of successful Teaching & Delivery of Djembe Workshop Percussion Technique & Rhythm to Schools, Colleges, Corporate Team Building, Social (Evening Workshops & Festivals) (1999 - 2019)

5 years of 3 - 5 Day Holiday Immersion Experiences in Sardinia and Turkey (2008 - 2013)

Tutoring Approach:

I teach a traditional percussion technique system for the Djembe Drum which aims at installing the 3 primary percussive tones of Tone Slap & Bass combined with tempo.
I achieve this through a method of percussive programming which is part of the Susu Djembe Technique taught in Guinea Conakary, West Africa.

I learned and earned my position as a Djembefola in The Gambia, where I funded the building of a training centre - whilst providing a home for my friends and teachers, The Camara family, who are a musical family and teach the traditional Susu (Susu Tribe) system of training for Drumming and Dancing in the African Ballet; the Djoliba in Guinea Conakary…
