Information About Glyn - Highgate teacher

Personal Description:

I'm a freelance session drummer, with experience working in both live and studio settings. Having completed a degree in Jazz music from Leeds College of Music in 2010, I moved to London with hopes of establishing myself in the international music scene. Since then, I have worked across many genres and had the opportunity to tour extensively, both nationally and internationally: EU, USA, Japan etc. More recently I have been working primarily within the Indie/Folk/Rock world, with bands such as 'The Staves' and 'Amber Run'.

I'm an outgoing and enthusiastic person, excited by the prospect of helping musicians of all abilities achieve their goals.

Tutoring Experience:

I began teaching drums while still at Sixth Form College to younger pupils at my school who were looking for a fresher approach developing their skills on the instrument.

I continued 1 to 1 tutoring throughout university, and upon moving to London in 2011 have enjoyed teaching children, teenagers and adults of all levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm an experienced teacher, confident in offering support to any drummer interested in pursuing a course within music, and within any genre. I am happy to work with all standards of player, from beginner/intermediate to advanced. Funk, Rock, Soul, Metal and Jazz can all be covered, as well as the drumming building blocks: rudiments and other technical exercises. Sight-reading and grade exams can also be included into a personally tailored lesson plan that will be designed to help the pupil become the kind of musician they want to be.
