Information About Freya - Totnes teacher

Personal Description:

I graduated from University of Liverpool in 2010 and continued to live in Liverpool until February 2012. Whilst in Liverpool I taught singing and piano at Presto Music School as well as tutoring privately. I now live in Totnes and work at Dartington Hall. My passion and love is music. Alongside teaching I enjoy playing and singing solo at open mic nights and local gig nights as well as collborating with other like-minded musicians.

Tutoring Experience:

Presto Music School, Liverpool. April 2011 - October 2011. I taught singing to all abilities either in groups or on a 1-to-1 basis. My pupils varied greatly in age, ranging from 4 years old to 40 years old. I taught a variety of techniques and genres.
Presto Music School, Liverpool. April 2011 - October 2011. I taught piano at beginner level to either groups of children or on a 1-to-1 basis. My pupil's ranged from age 4-6. My work required me to introduce them to basic technique and simple songs.
Private Music Tutor, Liverpool. October 2011 - February 2012. I taught piano and singing from home on a 1-to-1 basis. I was required to teach pupil's technique, scales, basic theory and songs.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe learning an instrument should be fun. If you enjoy learning your instrument you're much more likely to progress quickly. I believe I am a relaxed music teacher who recognises the challenges that can arise when learning an instrument. I place a lot of importance on practice, if pupil's are to advance on their intruments they must practice.
I usually teach in half hour slots as I think anything more can be a bit of an overload and not always productive. Having said this I am happy to teach hourly lessons on occassions such as a forthcoming exam or concert.
