Personal Description:

Francesca completed her bachelor's at the Royal Academy of Music followed by her master's at Guildhall, graduating with a Distinction. She studied at The Purcell School for sixth form and went to Junior Guildhall for six years.

Francesca is a passionate chamber musician and founding member of Ensemble Renard, who were previous Chamber Music Fellows at RAM and Tunnell Trust winners. They are current Britten Pears Young Artists, Stoller Emerging Artists, Munster Recital awardees and were finalists in the Royal Overseas League Annual Music Competition in 2022. Francesca is also a member of Meliora Collective, a flexible ensemble in a unique position of performing as a dectet, whilst also presenting concerts with more intimate chamber groupings. She was the oboist on the BCMG’s NEXT scheme in 2022-23.

Francesca is a regular orchestral freelancer across the UK, playing with Opera North, English Touring Opera, Philharmonia as well as regular guest principal for Fantasia Orchestra, Arch Sinfonia and Orchestra for the Earth. Francesca is the Oboe/Cor Anglais player for the London Touring Orchestra.

She has a huge amount of experience teaching Oboe, Piano and Music Theory. She has Grade 8 Oboe, Piano and Voice and extensive Music Theory training.

Tutoring Experience:

I am an extremely experienced private tutor, and have completed the very prestigious LRAM Teaching Qualification as well as a teaching course by ABRSM. I am happy to provide references.

I have been teaching privately for over 9 years, with pupils successfully entering both ABRSM and Trinity exams as well as auditioning successfully for the National Children’s Orchestra

I have a portable Enhanced DBS and have extensive safeguarding experience through my work with the National Childrens Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra.

I teach Oboe, Piano and Music Theory from beginner through to post Grade 8. I currently teach Oboe and Piano at St Richard Reynolds Catholic College and The Study Prep (both in SW London). I have previously taught at Wetherby Senior School (Marylebone), Dragon School (Oxford), Sydenham School (London), Thomson House Lower and Upper School and Kingston Music Service.

I am organised and am confident in timetabling lessons, regularly organising months in advance while being flexible with last minute changes. I am punctual and prepare my lessons and the structure to suit the individual child. I have a thorough knowledge of repertoire and am able to adapt my teaching style and format to suit the different abilities and personalities of pupils.

Tutoring Approach:

As a teacher, I try to make enjoyment the main focus of learning, and with guidance and structure, pupils can thrive to be the best musician they can be. I am a strong believer that hard work leads to great progress. I am an energetic, dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who has always loved teaching and watching pupils achieve and grow as musicians as well as individuals.

I tailor my lessons to suit the pupil best, whether they want to start learning the instrument as a beginner, go through the grades, learn for fun or to simply improve technique and get some help. I teach in an engaging manner that aims to create a good attitude towards learning and a love for music.

My musical education has given me the tools and knowledge to provide a comprehensive, interesting, insightful and fun music teaching.
