Personal Description:

LOCATION UPDATE: I am currently based in Istanbul, Turkey, as I was prevented from returning to the UK due to the current circumstances. However, I am available for online tutoring.

Hello, I am Federica and I am a professional musician, Music tutor and composer currently teaching guitar, flute, composition and Music theory from beginner to intermedia**Contact Detail Removed**vel. I am a music PhD candidate at King's College, London. I have been tutoring students in music for ten years, since 2011.
I teach a wide range of music genres, such as classical, rock, jazz, blues and soul as well as improvisation and song-writing. I have been employed by YMCA as a youth worker, and ran the Sound Skool and 2010 Barnet Youth Centre Summer Programme music sessions in Mill Hill and Barnet, teaching song-writing.
I can teach in English, Italian and Turkish.

24 HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY: if a lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours away from the scheduled time, the full fee will still be charged.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a two year experience in private music teaching in England and Italy, tutoring students at different levels and with varied tuition needs. I have coached pupils for exams, taught theory at academic level, working with students who went on to apply for Music degrees, and tutored casual learners who expressed an interest in music just for their personal enjoyment.
I have also worked with vocalists and performers who wanted to play an instrument in order to compose and improve their musicianship.
As a youth worker, I have organized and ran music and song-writing sessions during the 2010 Summer Programme in the Barnet YMCA Youth Centre, and ran weekly music classes for the Sound Skool YMCA project in Mill Hill. The sessions focused on acquiring excellent vocal technique, writing quality music and lyrics and performing, and they were aimed at 14 to 18 year old students.

Tutoring Approach:

I have both a rigorous and creative approach to teaching music, aimed at strengthening the learning abilities of pupils and helping them recognize and improve their weaknesses. I am patient and I like creating a learning context which is a mutual exchange of knowledge, thus encouraging the students to make their own contribution to the study sessions by bringing material which might make them feel more comfortable and familiar with the study topic. I also encourage creativity when the student manifests interest in composing and arranging.
Depending on the pupils' needs and interest, I organize lessons so as to cover a general history of music and of the particular instrument being studied, focusing then on the aspect they are looking to learn about or improve.
My method is based on offering a good balance between theory and practice, and help the student manage their own study time and build a productive study technique. I place much importance on the acquisition of self confidence: I found in my experience that often the biggest difficulty encountered by students is the trust in their own abilities and potential.
Depending on the level and needs of each student, I create an individual study programme which enables them to focus on what they must improve or refine. A wise use of time is one of the key factors to a student's academic success, and my tuitions also aim at organizing the student's knowledge so that s/he might succeed at managing it and gain satisfaction from his/her results. I provide some learning material for students at every session.
I am passionate about music and composing and always strive to help the students achieve their best and fully develop their potential.
