Personal Description:

A private tutor with nearing 10 years experience; I am a graduate of King's College Cambridge, where I studied Music and was a choral scholar in the world-famous King's College Choir, the Royal College of Music, where I was a postgraduate scholar, and the National Opera Studio.
I have a love of Classical Music of all periods and I am also a professional opera singer and have worked at The Royal Opera House, Welsh National Opera, Opera Holland Park, Garsington Opera, and English National Opera.
I am passionate about teaching music to the highest standard and inspiring the next generation of musicians.

Outside of music, I enjoy climbing, swimming and cycling and due to complete a fundraising project for Help Musicians charity, cycling 2,500 miles from London to Turkey and then swim the Dardanelles.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 9 years of private tuition experience, teaching both Singing and Music Theory of all grades up to Grade 8, and academic Music at all levels including GCSE and A-Level.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to create a comfortable and supportive environment for the student to learn in. In theory and Academic Music tuition I encоurаge verbаl аnd written debаte аnd use regulаr inquisitiоn tо аssess а student`s understаnding. I believe it is impоrtаnt tо cultivаte а relаxed аnd cоnversаtiоnаl envirоnment tо put students аt eаse.

My approach to Singing tuition is two-fold. It is firstly based around the formation of a technique that enables fluid and flexible singing. This is achieved through the use of vocal exercises and discussion about the correct approach to singing - posture, breathing, use of the imagination.
The application of these exercises and thought processes though repertoire forms the second side of my approach. This both makes the repertoire much easier to sing and places the exercises in context, highlighting their importance and the impact they have on singing.
