Personal Description:

*NOW OFFERING ONLINE LESSONS TOO*
Emma is a recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Music. She regularly plays with both the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, in major London venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Opera House and Cadogan Hall. She has also played with the Royal Ballet Sinfonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. In 2019, Emma had the opportunity to work with the London Sinfonietta as part of a collaborative project at the Royal Festival Hall. Other professional engagements include concerts with the Northern Chamber Orchestra, a side-by-side project with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, and a partnership with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
In 2016 she spent a year playing with the University of London Symphony Orchestra outside of her studies, as well as appearing in regular performances with the Orion Orchestra and London Mahler Orchestra. In December 2016 Emma was appointed principal bass with the Fantasia Orchestra and continues to play in regular performances with them throughout the concert season. Other freelance engagements include a performance alongside popular grime atrist 'Stormzy' at Wireless Festival.
Emma regularly gets the opportunity to play with the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, having played a varied amount of repertoire - from film music with James Newton Howard in the Royal Albert Hall, to Mozart's Don Giovanni in Hackney Round Chapel. As an ex-student of Chetham's School of Music, notable performances include concerts and workshops at the Jersey Academy of Music, and chamber music performances at the Bridgewater Hall and for the RNCM Chamber Music Festival and Rickmansworth Festival. Emma was a member of the National Youth Orchestra for two years, playing at the BBC Proms and in Berlin as part of the Young Euro Classics Festival.

Tutoring Experience:

Emma is currently a music curricular teacher for Sing Education, so is used to working with both children and adults. In 2021 Emma completed and passed her additional LRAM teaching qualification, alongside her extra 'Open Academy' outreach community music module.
Whilst a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Emma coached and trained young aspiring musicians as part of the NYO Inspire programme. During her time at Chetham's Emma played a major role in the community music projects, where an ensemble of musicians would tour local primary and secondary schools to give masterclasses, gain teaching experience and perform a short concert. In 2015 Emma spent two weeks working with music students at the Jersey Academy, training and coaching them for a collaboration concert that year.

Tutoring Approach:

I thoroughly enjoy passing on my love for music through well-thought out, yet enjoyable and engaging lessons! I hope to keep my students motivated throughout their time studying with me, and hope that they enjoy seeing their progress as much as I do! My pupils must be somewhat flexible throughout the week as I maintain a varied freelance career alongside my teaching work. I will always let pupils know my availability in advance.
