Personal Description:

I am a classically trained flautist offering lessons in both flute and piano. I studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht, The Netherlands. I hold a First Class Honours Bachelor degree in flute performance as well as a Distinction in my Postgraduate certificate. Based in London, I work as both an instrumental tutor and performer. I am happy to offer in person and online lessons to students.

Tutoring Experience:

I am confident in teaching students of all levels and ages (ranging from age 4 to 74). I am comfortable introducing both flute and piano to complete beginners, guiding students through practical music exams (most experience being with ABRSM), selecting appropriate repertoire and preparing students for various performance contexts. I also have plenty of experience in leading music workshops for groups of different ages and abilities having led 'introduction to music' workshops for children from 18months+, leading and conducting choirs and instrumental ensembles and performing interactive workshops in care homes.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning a musical instrument should, first and foremost, be fun! I tailor my teaching to suit the student, ensuring there is the right balance of work on fundamental technique and musicianship. I am a passionate believer in the manifold and various benefits of learning an instrument, not only in developing creative and technical abilities but also in building self confidence, problem solving skills and self discipline.

An essential component to successful musical progression is inspiration in any form you find it and I therefore actively aim to share my love of music with students in any way I can.
