Personal Description:

I am a freelance musician based in Southampton. I began my musical studies at the age of 11, at the Hariclea Darclee High school of Arts from Braila, where I have studied the flute as my main instrument and the piano as my secondary. After I graduated I entered the National University of Music Bucharest, from which I have obtained a Bachelors degree in Flute Performance. I participated in flute masterclasses and workshops in Romania, and I performed on some important stages in Bucharest, Braila, Southampton and London as a soloist, as a member of an orchestra and with a band in which I played the flute and keyboard. I finished my Master's degree in Flute Performance with Distinction at the University of Southampton, and I collaborate with various musicians for different projects (chamber music recitals, weddings, masterclasses).

Tutoring Experience:

I worked as a flute and piano teacher in private music schools in Romania, and since I came to the UK, I have been teaching privately. I have been teaching both children and adults for 6 years, and I have been preparing my students for various competitions, including the ABRSM and Trinity graded exams.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching philosophy revolves around the interaction between the teacher and the student, because I learned from my own experience that if the pupils are happy with their teachers and their method, they will evolve faster and the process of learning and practicing will be transformed into a delightful activity that can later become their profession. Every student is different and unique, so my main goal is to discover their personality and pace of learning, before I can choose their repertoire. My aim is to have my lessons relaxed and effortless, so that the pupils have an enjoyable and inspiring experience. I also like to challenge them with questions that can lead them to discover the answers by themselves.

I have found Cristina to be most inspiring and together we have made a plan so that I can regain the ability I once had (Grade 5) and to go forward. She is always organised and her time-keeping is excellent, things which are very important to me.

Lessons are fun, and whilst I had some basic techniques, the advice she has given means that I am now making steady progress.

Unfortunately, i could not carry on the tuitions due to family commitments,
But i recommend her a lot!
She has ,also xtra qualities , in the fact she can also understand/ teach the notes the continental way [ do re mi fa sol…… ]
So, anyone coming from countries where A B C D, etc is NOT the norm…… please go to her!
She spots[ nicely] anything that is not right, which i wanted !

From Borja (5/5): I take 30' lessons once a week with Cristina, and she makes the most out of every class (lately, we've been doing the lessons via skype). I feel I learn quickly with her, every week I have homework to do (which keeps me busy and entertained and always progressing) and the teaching method is very good; not slow, but patient, and steady.

I strongly recommend her.

I am a complete beginner and already I have improved my tone and playing ability. I have had a few teachers and Cristina is by far the best. I highly recommend Cristina as your teacher.
