Personal Description:
I am a freelance musician and teacher based in Gloucester. I have been teaching for over a decade, and as such have amassed a wide range of experiences as a teacher. As an active performer I play weekly across the country in a number of professional groups and ensembles (jazz, pop and classical).
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching for over a decade, teaching both in schools and privately. My tutees range from 6 year-olds to adult learners, from one-on-one lessons to groups of pupils.
I have taught in primary and secondary schools (both state and independent), as well as adult learners both in lessons and workshops.
Tutoring Approach:
My musical knowledge is extremely broad, and as such I can teach a variety of styles to tutees with a number of approaches. Most of all, I want my pupils to get the best out of the lessons through helping them gain a solid understanding and appreciation of music.
One option for many tutees is the classically-trained and exam-based route - I prepare and enter some of my pupils for ABRSM and Trinity-Guildhall exams, and have a 100% pass rate with 100% at merit/distinction. I am also able to teach those who want to learn about pop, rock, classical and jazz, by focusing on chords, stylistic knowledge, and gaining a general understanding of music and performance.
