Information About Clara - Hammersmith teacher

Personal Description:

Hello! I'm Clara and I've just moved to White City to start my masters in performance on the bassoon at the Royal College of Music. before that I studied music at Oxford University. I also play, piano, trombone and percussion all at grade 8 level, and have a lot of experience playing in orchestras and chamber music groups. I've always been predominantly a classical musician, but I also play jazz trombone, and am a keen Brazilian Samba drummer and Indonesian Gamelan player!

Tutoring Experience:

I currently teach a 13 year old grade 3 standard piano.
I taught a ten year old the trombone for 6 months, taking them from grade 3 to grade 5 which they passed with Distinction.
I taught music theory and coached chamber music groups at New College School for 6 months, with classroom and 1-1 guidance for children about to take their grade 5 theory exams.
I frequently go into primary schools to demonstrate instruments - engaging children with (the lesser known) bassoon and trombone.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the most important part of learning any instrument is having fun during the lessons so that the pupil wishes to practice between them. I tailor lessons to individuals' needs, so that maximum progress can be made, with attention to detail, musicality and well-rounded musicianship my primary goals. I would love to inspire more people to take up the bassoon and trombone, and have really enjoyed the teaching experience I've had so far.
