Personal Description:

Teaching piano is my passion and I have 14 years' experience working with children and adults to help them to learn and play piano with freedom and expression. I enjoy working with students at every stage of their music journey - from complete beginners to more advanced students and also individuals wishing to return to playing piano after a long break.

I am based in Bristol and studied a degree in Music at Bath Spa University, where I went on to complete a Masters degree specialising in Piano Performance.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught privately in both Bristol and Bath, and tutored at Bristol Music School from 2010-2015. I also have lots of experience in preparing students for their ABRSM practical exams and other performances.

I currently teach on weekdays in Frenchay.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that all students should have access to good quality piano tuition, that is enjoyable and engaging and allows them to progress quickly.

My approach is tailored to the needs of the student and this will differ depending on whether they are beginning to learn piano
or already have experience. For beginners, I aim to provide a thorough understanding of musical elements (note reading, rhythm, ear training) as well as ensuring that students have a healthy piano posture and a good solid technical foundation, as this will enable them to express the music that they play with comfort and ease.

I am happy to work with adults that want to work on particular repertoire, or play music aside from classical music (such as pop music). I adapt my teaching to help people achieve their musical goals.

I also prepare students for practical graded exams, if this is something that they wish to take - ensuring that they have a positive experience, enjoy their performance and achieve a good result.
