Information About Christopher - Chipping Norton teacher

Personal Description:

Christopher is an experienced Double Bass player. He completed his undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music where he studied with Roberto Carillo Garcia, Jiri Hudec and Bozo Paradzik. He also studied at the Royal College of Music where he achieved PG diploma in performance.

Christopher started tuition in 2003 under his father Mr. Dion . In the same year, he made his first debut with the National Youth Orchestra of Malta. He went on to play with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Linz Youth Orchestra, Orchestra Di Pesaro, BRNO Philharmonic Orchestra, Oldham Symphony Orchestra, Wirral Symphony Orchestra, and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

While at the Royal Northern College of Music, he recorded symphonic, jazz and 40s film soundtracks with wind orchestra and symphony orchestra conducted by Sir Mark Elder. As a soloist he recorded extracts from the Bottesini F sharp minor concerto at the Royal College of Music.

Additionally, he performed a number of great works such as Tubin’s Double Bass concerto, Works by Giovanni Bottesini, Domenico Dragonetti Double Bass concerto, Invocation by Miloslav Gajdos and many more.

Since graduating, Christopher has been playing with orchestras around the South East of England; namely the Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra, Henley Orchestra, London Central Orchestra and the OFE (Orchestra For Earth). He played as Principal, Sub-Principal and Rank & File. As a virtuosic Double Bass player, he made his debut at the Holywell Music room in Oxford in 2015 and in 2017 was invited to perform with the Encore! in Cambridge.

As a double bass teacher, he teaches at The Perse Upper School in Cambridge, The Stephen Perse Foundation and St. Helen and St. Katherine in Abingdon. As a composer,​ he has composed works for Double Bass, Chamber Groups, Liturgical Music and Orchestral.

Tutoring Experience:

I have done two great experiences with the Royal Northern College of Music. My first experience was with the Junior RNCM, it was part of my studies to observe and learn new ideas in teaching. My other experience was with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in harmony project.

Tutoring Approach:

I have different methods for different levels, I like to use a lot of techniques and ABRSM books. I am able to teach orchestral excerpts and also solo repertoire.
