Personal Description:

Charlie has been playing, performing and writing music since he was young, Charlie started learning classical piano at the age of three and by the age of eleven he began to transition into learning the guitar, with artists such as Joe Pass and Jimi Hendrix being a great deal of Inspiration to him.

At the age of 12 Charlie began to study Jazz Guitar at the Purcell School of Music in Bushey, Hertfordshire, with a full scholarship, and began to enrol at the Junior Department at the Royal Academy of Music in Marylebone, London. Whilst at Purcell and JRAM Charlie not only improved as a guitar player, but also earning his GCSE's and A levels, whilst performing alongside some of the best Jazz musicians in the UK, whist still only at school. Charlie performed concerts with, Chris Montague, Kit Downes, Brandon Allen, Stan Sulzmann, and Laurence Cottle to name a few.

From Purcell and JRAM, Charlie began to continue his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, with a Scholarship and direct entry into year two of the undergrad course, whilst at Guildhall he began to make a name for himself in the London jazz and music scene. During his first few years at Guildhall he really began to focus on composition and arranging music, which resulted in a number of his pieces being performed in concerts and gigs over the tenure of his time at Guildhall. Charlie began to start to work and teach more regularly once he moved to London full time, and this resulted in Performances at The Barbican Centre, Ronnie Scotts, the 606 Club, The 100 Club, The Vortex, and E1 to name a few. He has been mentioned in a review in 'allaboutjazz' of a concert that was held at Milton Court Concert Hall with Yazz Ahmed and the Guildhall School Big Band with reviewer Peter May saying - "Foremost among several promising soloists in the Orchestra was electric guitarist Charlie , who has a delightfully fluid style, one to watch out for in the future." Charlie Graduated from Guildhall in September 2020 with a Batchelors Degree in Jazz, and graduated with Honours.

Since graduation Charlie has continued to work on his own music and projects, and has been a teaching guitar lessons privately and recording music throughout 2020.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching privately for over four years now, ever since I started to attend music college. This has encompassed one to one and **Contact Detail Removed**, ranging from beginner level to advanced.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to teach each person as if they are a totally different to the last, based on ability, experience, what they can and what they can't do as of yet, I like to first meet he/she to see what level they are at, and then I can gauge as to what they need to do, and how I can help them grow and improve as an instrumentalist, but more importantly grow as a musician.
