Studying the piano and violin from a young age, Billy attended Northampton School for Boys and achieved distinctions in all his piano examinations, including ABRSM Grade 8. He passed GCSE Music with an A* and aged just 16 performed live at Symphony Hall Birmingham and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London.

After winning a Music Scholarship to Stowe School, Billy was awarded an ATCL Diploma with Distinction and received an A in A Level Music. Billy was offered a Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship to study Music at Durham University and is currently studying for a Degree in Music at the University of Manchester whilst working towards his LTCL Diploma.

As well as performing at Symphony Hall Birmingham and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, Billy has also performed at the Royal Northern College of Music, St Lawrence Jewry Church in London, St Paul’s Church in Bedford, the Cripps Hall Theatre Northampton, Spinney Hill Theatre Northampton, the Royal and Derngate Theatre Northampton, and the Ugland Auditorium, Marble Hall and South Front at Stowe School.

Billy received a Distinction for his performance at the 2018 Milton Keynes Festival (2018) performing works by Bach and Chopin and he organised and performed at a Northampton charity concert in 2020 raising money for the NHS during the first lockdown.

Billy has studied under Mr Mark Pescott (Dip ABRSM, LRAM, ARAM, FTCL), Pamela M. Rawlinson (LRAM, ARCM), Ben Andrew (BMus(Hons) Trinity College of Music, LTCL, FTCL) and Richard Casey (RNCM, PPRNCM and founder-member of Psappha).

Billy has also received masterclasses with Graham Fitch (Royal Northern College of Music), Anna Markland (Winner of BBC Young Musician 1982), Lukas Geniušas (2nd prize winner at Int. Chopin Piano Competition 2010) and Nikki Iles (British jazz composer).

With a particular affinity towards Romantic repertoire, especially the works of Chopin and Rachmaninov, Billy also enjoys performing Beethoven and Mozart – as well as more contemporary works by Yiruma and Ludovico Einuadi.

Billy is DBS-checked and a member of the Musicians’ Union.

Tutoring Experience:

Taught all ages and levels, classical, pop and modern. I have prepared students for all exam boards (ABRSM, Trinity and LCM) and all levels – from grade 1 to grade 8 and diploma (ARSM, ATCL, DipLCM).

I offer a free 30-minute introductory lesson where we discuss your goals and ambitions with the piano. Whatever your aims, I can design piano lessons to meet your specific needs.
